The Mystery of The Night Monster
Now there's a fourth American Tail film!!! And boy, is this one ever good! It's about time we had a decent cat attack!
Not long after AT3 (American Tail III) Fievel has been having bad nightmares. Really bad nightmares! Horrible nightmares!!! Scary ones that wake him up late at night! Horrible dreams about
..AL GORE WINNING THE ELECTION!!!-"AARRGG!!!!" (Ha, ha!) (Political Joke) "What's the matter don't you watch CNN?"
"If Al Gore won the election Fievel would have a face like this! (Ha, Ha)!!!"
Anyway Fievel's been having bad nightmares that wake him and his family up late at night. Now here's what I didn't like when even Fievel would have a nightmare, he'd wake up crying like a little baby. Plus Fievel acts super scared in this film. Even after everything he has been through! That's not the Fievel I know! But, even the DragonBallZ warriors got weak around the Garlic Jr. Saga even after all they've been through with Frieza!!! Anyway Fievel's been having severe nightmares because there's something new and scary going on around New York, "The Manhattan Monster!"
In New York the word is out amongst the mice that there is a mouse-nabbing monster! The rumor is that this monster is so big that it can destroy a human's home! It's so horrifying that even the cats are afraid of it! Speaking of the cats, the mice no longer have to worry about the cats anymore. Why? Because the mice invented a new security gate system that works similar to the Berlin Wall. And this security gate keeps cats away and armed mice run it. Therefore the best cat attack hit areas are off line now for the cats. So Fievel and the other mice don't have to worry about cats as much anymore. But this monster deal, is scary to all of the mice and Fievel.
Tanya got a new job at the newspaper company, the people who are also responsible for putting out all of these monster stories. So Mama Mouskewitz ordered Tanya to take Fievel with her to clear up all of this monster business with the writers of the articles so he wouldn't have as much nightmares.
Tanya realizes that she's in love with her boss. Take a good look at the poster in the right hand corner!
Fievel found the mouse that was writing all of the newspaper articles on this, and would you believe it, that it's a girl mouse named Nellie Bree. Fievel was quite shocked to see this. Once again An American Tail has historical significance! AT4 historical account is on early women workers and Muckrakers. Muckrakers were American news reporters who would uncover the truth about a scam in some rich business area. Who was lead by "Upton Sinclair" (These arent mice characters this is real history I'm talking about) and their stories would be so effective as to appeal to the president's attention! That's what Nellie Bree was based on. Once again American Tail gets historically correct, only it's put through a mouse perspective. And today there are still Muckrakers, can you guess who they are? Try: "20/20, Dateline, Busted on the Job, World's Wildest Police Chases, 48 Hours, and Hard Copy."

Historical Significance of American Tail
AT1=Immigration to America, child labor, and dedication to the Statue of Liberty.
AT2=The Gold Rush fever, the great move west, and the "Oklahoma Land Rush."
AT3=The Labor Unions, The Carnegie Strikes, the famous Pullman Strikes, and the Indian caves under New York.
AT4=The Muckrakers, the sewage system problems, The motto "Never Go into Central Park at night", the elevated railway system, and Coney Island.
Fievel got caught and got in trouble at first when he was at the newspaper headquarters. But then when the head editor "Read Daily" noticed that Fievel was a good drawer, he pretty much said to Nellie Bree, "Nellie, meet your new partner!" Nellie Bree was obviously offended from that remark and humiliated to be assigned to get hooked up with a kid mouse, but it was either be Fievel's partner, or hang out in the news area and play baby-sit. Bree gave a huge sigh and took Fievel as her new partner. Fievel's job was to draw what the eyewitness would see.
What Fievel was hoping to hear from the news people was that this monster was just some Tabloid made up thing. But it turns out that the press never made it up! This monster might be real after all! But Nellie Bree is like a little mouse "Agent Scully" she is very skeptical! She even looks like Agent Scully only with big red hair. She doesn't believe in this monster, that it's just a figure of the mice victim's imagination. So she's hoping to capture a hoax able prankster.
But Nellie soon starts to eat her own words when she sees the disaster areas! The places where this thing hit looked as if Godzilla's baby had been there. There were scratch marks and holes everywhere! The victims would explain what they saw and Fievel would draw what they saw. But the more Fievel saw, the more scared he got! They would continually get more and more incidents, yet wind up empty handed with evidence. Until someone gave them a tip to go to a certain area to check out something about the monster. But what Bree and Fievel found was
.THE MONSTER!!!!! IT WAS A TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! It came from the floor and attacked Bree and Fievel. Can they make it out in time? Can they stop this thing and save the mice maybe even the humans in New York City from,

For Who?: Family, kids, or animation fans. This is another good family get together film.

Action: After 2 American Tail films, we finally have a decent cat attack! We have: 3 Nightmares, 3 Flashbacks, One Psycho Poodle, teleporter, Newspaper crash, machine explosions, roller skate swing, about 6 monster attacks, a dozen holes, chandelier crash, electric shock wave, mice chases, cat chases, cutting saw of death, dog chase, sewer floods, and tail grabbing.
Violence: Really scary looking dream monsters, Freddy Krugger eat your heart out, drool, hairballs, mouse shake, and a really angry psyched out Poodle.
LoveMaking: Tanya has a crush on her boss, but he doesn't know about it. Nellie Bree and Read Daily are like Ash and Misty of Pokemon, they both say that they hate each other, when they're really crazy about each other. In other words, they're in love with each other, but they refuse to admit it. No kissing. (I think I heard some kids cheering in the background. And some teens booing in the side background on your computer.)
Music: About 3 musical numbers. I didn't like the third one too much, but I think other people will like it. However the song sounded a lot better without the kid actor voices. It sounds good with just music. They should have gone that extra mile with the first song. It had a good rhythm. But they rushed it, it could have been a hit if they kept working on it. I also liked the second song. The music overall is also very good.
Awards: Update! Thomas Dekker has won the 2000-20001 Young Artist Award for doing the voice of Fievel in An American Tail 4!!! Congratulations Dekker! That makes it one award that we know of. Information provided by Bryan Hoskins.
Pros: IT'S BETTER THAN AT3!!!!!!!!!! But NOT better than AT1! I don't think any Fievel sequel can beat the first. It's REALLY GOOD! I really liked it a lot! This is one of the best straight to video's I've seen in a long time! It has a lot of action, suspense, mystery, and morals! It's not out on video in America yet, but the second I get one available, I lead you straight to the GokuFievel Store!
Cons: Tiger seems to be getting less funnier in each American Tail film. What's wrong with him!?!? He needs to go to comedy school. AT2 was Tiger's best work.
