IS THE GREATEST ACTION CARTOON OF ALL TIME!!!
And it’s not just me. The “Wall Street Journal” also dubbed it “The Greatest Action Cartoon of all Time”. The Wall Street Journal also dubbed it: “A HUGE Cartoon HIT!” As you can see that most of my site is dedicated to DBZ. (Fievel too but let’s stick with the subject.) Therefore, just like all of the other films that I have in here I must do a Checklist Chart of it.
And what is a Checklist Chart? See my Checklist Chart page for what each category means. But in short a Checklist Chart is my way of criticizing movies and TV shows. Because well………you see, I don’t believe in the “2 Thumbs Up” or “4 out of 5 Stars” systems. They’re not very good criticism and it can ruin films and TV shows by just glancing at it and giving it an unworthy grade. So I don’t like to do it that way with films. ESSPECIALLY WITH DRAGONBALLZ!!!!!! DBZ doesn’t deserve a lousy Star or Smelly Thumb, IT DESERVES THE BEST OF ATTENTION!!!!!! So here’s my Checklist Chart list down below.
This covers over about 125 out of the 200 Episodes that DragonBallZ has. It also includes 10 out of the 15 movies that it has as well.
Rated: IT’S REAL COMPLICATED HERE!!! So here’s a list.
Unedited TV version: “PG”
Movies 1-3 on Cartoon Network: “Y7”
Unedited Movies: “PG”
Japanese version: “PG-13”
(Maybe one of the Japanese one’s was rated “R”, this stuff can get REAL VIOLENT, but, America has edited out a heck of a lot of stuff.
Over all the rating is about “PG”. Which is a pretty good rating.
For Who?: Whoa! Basically anybody who gets drawn into it, like I did. When I first saw it I said, “Man, what is this weird stuff!? This looks stupid,………but if it’s so stupid, why can’t I stop looking at it?” The age can range from kids to adults. There are a heck of a lot of teens into this show! It’s got a good children audience too.
Year: It’s complicated here too.
Shown in the USA for the very first time in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
Cartoon Network showed it for the first time in 1998.
The DragonBallZ Craze started in 1999.
Time: Way over 200 Episodes total! Each episode a half an hour long and each one has a “To Be Continued…” in it! Therefore, it’s one BIG CHAIN STORYLINE JUST LIKE A SOAP OPERA!!!
Action: HEAVEN HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS HAS BEEN NAMED “THE GREATEST ACTION CARTOON OF ALL TIME”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So how in the heck am I suppose to go down the list!?!?!?!? Do you really want it?!?!?! Well do you!?!?!?!? Ok, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
List of Action Moves: Ready? Here we go! Karate Kicks, punches, super kicks, super punches, light speed kicks, light speed punches, fireballs, bigger fireballs, super fireballs, REALLY HUGE FIREBALLS, flying, flying moves, fast flying, light speed flying, chases, high speed chases, Dragonball hunting, powering up, super powers, Kamea Mea moves, Keo Ken attacks, Spirit Bomb attacks, super fights, Super Saiyan attacks, combo moves, super super super super super super super super super super super super super super super super strong villains, Earth battles, space battles, gravity enhancers, laser eyes, power levels, body snatching, planet snatching, Dead Zones, hidden powers, outbursts, sword fights, Distructo Disks,…………..hungh! hungh! Hungh! HUFF! PUFF! HUFF! PUFF!!!………let me catch my breath OK?………”Breathe in……Breathe out……”…………OK, I’m ready to go again. He’s the other half: planet explosions, super training, ultimate power levels, fighters, sabamen, Saiyans, Tournaments, mad scientists, alien attacks, power polls, capsule explosions, Gallet Gun, double beam blasts, super blasts, twin purple double Distructo Disk attacks, transformations, hallucinations, time freezes, mind freezes, Recoome Booms, Flying Fireball attacks, solid stream speed flying, Flying Nimbus, Ginyu change now attack, Vegeta double beam stream attack, Trunks sword attacks, kid Saiyan attacks, Android invasions, metallic Frieza, Super Saiyan fireballs, AND BELIEVE ME MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MORE!!!!!!!!! “PHEW!!!!!!”
Violence: OOOH!!! Here’s where it goes over board! Asking if there’s violence in DBZ is like asking if there’s snow in Alaska!!! Look, if you want a list of the action violence go back to the Action Section! I ain’t typing all of that again! So I’ll go to the other kind of violence………GORE!!! Not Al Gore!!! The real GORE!!! But it’s not bad, OK? So here’s the list, but remember CARTOON NETWORK EDITS A HECK OF A LOT OF THIS STUFF! And there is no hard core gore!
There’s: blood, injuries, arms cut off, arms ripped off, bruises, black eyes, tails cut off, laser beam through bodies, fighters cut into Swiss cheese, fighters cut in half, heads cut off, sword stabbing, poll hitting, red blood, green blood, purple blood, glowing blood, oil blood, giant brains, Androids broken, slapping, hitting, suicide missions, blown up in your face, vaporized fighters, floating bodies, floating dead bodies, cut eyes, cut faces, blown up bodies, gun fire, shell fire, kicked south of the border, and MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE!!!!!!!!
Language: In the Japanese version, Yes. Especially in the subtitled version. But those are hard to get. So you don’t have to worry about that. So, the English dubbed version is all cleaned up. The highest language you could get in the English version would be: “Darn YOU!!!” or, “Bite Me!” or, “MORON!”. But that’s as high as it gets. DBZ is NOT filthy! Remember I’m speaking for almost all of the episodes, so those phrases come out rarely. The “Simpsons” has 10X’s worse language OK!?
LoveMaking: Ok, so once again, the meter goes over board! There are TONS of boy friend, girl-friend relationships. But DBZ is mainly flying NOT love drama’s. You have married couples like Goku. Kids and family. Plus Odd couples! Every once in a Blue Moon, ONLY IN THE JAPANESE AND/OR THE UNCUT VERSIONS of DBZ there can be…………Brief Comic Nudity………But it’s more like: Bare hinny’s. Or baby pictures. Frontal or full stuff IS EXTREMELY RARE AND IS NEVER EVER SHOWN ON CARTOON NETWORK, NOR VIDEOTAPES! Usually in the Japanese versions, but they are as rare as what’s above. But remember DBZ has a rated “PG” rating OK!?
Music: OH YA!!! Only the best for the best Action Cartoon! There’s electric guitar-ish music, vocal choir background music, and high-speed electric piano music! Musical numbers are rare, but when they happen, they are in Japanese and are usually sung by Gohan. Such songs as “I love you Mr.Piccolo” and “We got Power!”.
Awards: Japan has given them some awards. But America,………YESH! WHAT’S WITH THIS COUNTRY!!?? HOW COME WE CAN’T SHOW RESPECT TO OUTSIDERS!?!?!? Believe it or not the critics loved this! And they are SO HARD TO PLEASE!!! Cartoon Network hasn’t even given them a reward! DBZ saved Cartoon Network! Some thanks! DBZ saved Cartoon Network just like Regis Phillphen saved “ABC”! BUT!!! I smell some awards coming on! I’ll bet dollars to donuts that the USA will give DBZ the awards or attention that it TRULY DESERVES!!!
Pros.: EVERYTHING!!!!!!
YEHAW!!!!!!!!!!! IT REALLY TRULY IS THE GREATEST ACTION CARTOON EVER MADE!!!!!! “How many times have I said that in this page alone?” This is SoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooGOOD!!!!!!!!! And Awesome!!!!!! Every episode is a “To Be Continued” so it’s addictive too! And because of that, you can follow along with them day by day! You see warriors get stronger and stronger. This show influences people to exercise too! Sick and tired of the same old “Dr.Evil” like villain just trying to take over the world the old fashioned way? WELL DBZ VILLAINS ARE LIKE NO OTHER AND SHOW NO MERCY WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!! And just when you think that the villain is either defeated or dead,………HE’S NOT! He just comes up mocking and laughing at our heroes! They just keep coming back for more!!! And when one villain is down, and you think everything will go back to normal, IT DOESN’T!!!!!! Another villain much stronger than the last one makes the challenge!!! This show has techniques and things in here that the USA HOLLYWOOD HAS NEVER EVER THOUGHT UP BEFORE!!!!!! New Ideas!!! It’s like a million Superman’s fighting each other! IT’S TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE AND WORTH SEEING!!!!!! Even for adults to pitch in!
Cons.: One word………RERUNS!!! Cartoon Network keeps repeating the same saga’s over and over again when they shouldn’t!!! Because there’s more than 10 parts to it. And so far they’ve only shown 4 or 5. We the fans keep demanding them to show the new ones. Usually when they get back to where they left off, they show the new episodes. And when that happens we the fans, GO CRAZY!!! But lately this past year, they have been doing a good job showing the best ones and new ones. Also people will hear how great it is…like from me, and they’ll one of the “Training Episodes”. Those episodes are not very good, plus Gohan was a baby back then and he acts like one too. Therefore the people will think it stinks just because they saw the wrong episode. Plus because every episode is a “To Be Continued” you’ll have to wait a SOLID day or weekend to see what happens next. Also they do the “To Be Continued” at the worst time! Just when it always gets really interesting! But that’s about it for Cons.
JUST SEE IT ON CARTOON NETWORK ON TOONAMI!!!!!!
DBZ: 5:00 P.M. est./cent.
DBZ: 6:00 P.M Mountain Time.
Or if you don’t have cable, go rent a good episode from the video store! Remember it’s on Toonami on Cartoon Network!
And that’s my Final Statement. ROCK ON!
